In this one-day intensive, we will explore approaches to sketch comedy writing through improvisation, structure, message and more! The day will simulate parts of the process of being in a professional television writer's room (but a nice one). We will tackle pitching, premise generation and refinement, group writing, format, shape, style and exercises to flesh out participants' unique comedic voices. Leave with potential material to get your sketch writing package together or at least some new tools to attack it!

Studying “Le Jeu”, students will learn to play, develop complicity, gain sensitivity and embrace taking risks. As clowns, students will learn how to break down the fourth wall and connect with their audience. They will learn to embrace the “flop” and find the freedom to fail.
Inspired by the pedagogy of the French clown master Philippe Gaulier, this workshop is for all types of performers: actors, clowns, comedians, improvisers… Anyone who wants to get out of their head and follow their impulses.
5 Weeks
Date: Sunday October 29th - November 26th
Time: 11AM - 1:30PM
Price: $225
Over this 5 week course, the students will further utilize the clowning skills and the characters that they discovered in the Clown 1 - “Le Jeu” workshop series, to focus on and develop their
very own original clown act...aka “Turn”. While broadening their comedic horizons through the exploration of improv, slapstick humour, and mime technique, these students will create a
physical comedy act that really works, and at the end of this course, will get to present it as a performance piece to the enjoyment of a live audience!
Prerequisite: Le Jeu Workshop with Chloe Payne or any other intro clown workshop. If you have questions email education@tightropetheatre.com
