For improvisors who want to try their hand at one of the most popular improv formats played around the globe!
Maestro Impro, invented by Keith Johnstone, is played in dozens of languages on six continents. This workshop will give you an overview of the techniques and theories that make it so much fun to play. Topics include playing with good nature, how to love losing, variety, mischief, misbehaviour, the power of non-verbal, popular Maestro games, narrative scene structure, directing and being directed, honouring the audience, and finding truthfulness.
Led by Jeff Gladstone & Rina Shimomura who direct Tightrope's Maestro Ensemble. Jeff has been performing and directing Maestro Impro since its inception at Loose Moose Theatre in 1996, and is one of a few on the list of recognized instructors on the International Theatresports Institute website.
Expand your improvisation knowledge, develop your skills and techniques, and challenge yourself with this unique workshop opportunity.
This five-day workshop is rooted in Keith Johnstone’s games, exercises and techniques for improvisational performance, scene work, character development and dynamic story creation.
Taught by Patti Stiles, author of Improvise Freely, whose understanding of Johnstone’s work and philosophy, combined with a wealth of experience on the world stage, has made her a “must have” teacher and director.
