Second City Toronto alumnus Lindsay Mullan will be teaching a 2-part workshop on writing sketch comedy. These 2 classes combine an academic approach to sketch with idea-generating exercises that harness and hone your improv skills.
CLASS 1: Basic sketch theory and knowledge! In this class you will be analyzing
classic sketches in pop culture, breaking down narrative structure, understanding
premise, heightening, game of the scene, and point of view. There will also be a
discussion about the process of putting a writing packet together for a televised
CLASS 2: Creating sketch on your feet! Using show-writing improv techniques from
the Second City Mainstage you will explore character work, physical comedy, and
engaging scene work as a group.
Each class is 2 hours long and is perfect for beginner and intermediate performers in
both improv and acting!

Impro Flights is the place for you! This monthly series is designed to take you to the next level. A selection of four improvisation classes for the adventurous, where you can build your skills on your way to becoming an improvisor. Taste just one, or try them all.
Check out Impro Scene Study or Impro Theatre Lab. Both courses are designed for the experienced improvisor who is keen to continue to build their skill-set and advance their work.

This ongoing weekly course is focused on exploring improvised scene work. Investigate narrative form while remaining true to the moment in order to create strong and spontaneous theatre. This work will be sure to add to your skills as an improvisor, actor, writer, director, and collaborator for stage and screen.
For the advanced improvisor. Now that you have mastered games and scenes, it’s time for something bigger. You will learn the skills on what makes compelling long form narratives, truthful characters, and entertaining theatre

All of our In Studio classes take place at the Tightrope Studio 2343 Main Street. Our theatre space, designed specifically for improvisation training and performance, has lights and sound, as well as props, costumes & set pieces to bring your scenes to life.
