Blind Date was created by Canadian actor/improviser, Rebecca Northan, in 2009 and has since toured across Canada, the US, off-Broadway, and in London, UK. It celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2019, and has hosted 1500 ‘Dates’, and counting. Blind Date is licensed exclusively to Tightrope Impro Theatre in British Columbia through Northan Industries Inc and is a form of Spontaneous Theatre created by Rebecca Northan.

1. What if I DO NOT want to be picked?

The cast NEVER brings someone up on stage that isn’t willing to participate. The cast will mingle in the lobby before the show to get an idea who might be interested in playing. If you are approached, simply let the company know that you are not interested.

2. What if I WANT to be picked?

The cast will mingle in the lobby before the show. If you’re keen to participate, simply let them know. There is NO guarantee that you will be chosen.

3. My friend/partner is having a birthday, can I put their name forward to be picked with or without them knowing?

The cast ONLY chooses willing participants. If your friend would like to participate, inform one of the Company in the lobby before the show. There is no guarantee that they will be picked.

4. Is the Date a plant? Is this show really improvised?

The Date is NOT a plant. Mimi & the company choose a different audience member each night. They specifically try to avoid anyone with performance experience.
